Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste

Household Hazardous Waste and E Waste Pickup

Safely dispose of leftover household chemicals and unwanted electronics through your community's HHW and E-Waste collection program. Pro Waste coordinates requests, reviews your items, and provides appointment and preparation instructions.

Service is available to eligible households in participating programs. Your service address and materials must be reviewed before pickup is confirmed.

How to schedule your pickup

1. Submit your request in the form below. Select HHW, E-Waste, or Both. Enter your contact information, service address, municipality, and a complete list of materials and quantities.

2. Wait for confirmation. Pro Waste will review your request and contact you with the collection date and preparation instructions. Submitting the form does not confirm an appointment.

3. Follow your collection instructions. Place only approved items at the confirmed location and time. Keep HHW and electronics separate from one another and from regular trash and recycling. HHW and E-Waste may have separate pickup arrangements.

Preparing household hazardous waste

· Keep products in their original containers with labels attached. Keep lids closed and containers upright. Never use food or beverage containers for chemicals.

· Never mix chemicals or combine leftover products. Follow the product label and the material-specific instructions provided for your appointment.

· Keep materials away from children and pets. Do not place HHW in trash or recycling containers or pour it into drains, onto the ground, or into storm sewers.

· Tell Pro Waste about leaking, corroded, swollen, broken, or unlabeled items before handling or setting them out. These items require special review and may not be collected.

· Wait for instructions before packaging batteries, fluorescent bulbs, or mercury-containing items. Do not break bulbs. See the E-Waste section for devices containing batteries.

· Do not set items outside until your pickup date, location, and placement time have been confirmed.

E-Waste Preperation

E-Waste means unwanted electronic equipment. Request pickup before setting anything outside. List each device and quantity so Pro Waste can confirm acceptance under your community's program.

Electronics accepted for review

  • Televisions, including older tube-style sets and flat-screen TVs.
  • Desktop and laptop computers and computer monitors.
  • Printers and computer peripherals, including keyboards and mice.
  • Other residential electronic devices may be eligible. List the exact item when requesting pickup; approval is required before collection.

Household appliances and commercial or business electronics are not included in this residential E-Waste program. Do not assume that an item is accepted just because it has a plug or battery.

Preparing your electronics

  • Before pickup, back up anything you need and remove personal information using the device manufacturer's instructions. Remove removable storage media such as memory cards and USB drives.
  • Do not include passwords or personal files in the pickup request. Ask Pro Waste if you need information about data handling; do not assume pickup includes a data destruction service.
  • Keep devices intact. Do not dismantle equipment, break screens, or pry out built-in batteries. Ask Pro Waste whether easily removable batteries need separate preparation.
  • Tell Pro Waste about broken screens, exposed components, leaking or swollen batteries, or other damage before moving or setting out the equipment. These items require review.
  • Keep electronics dry and separate from chemicals. Keep cords and accessories together as instructed. Do not put electronics inside an HHW chemical collection kit.
  • Wait for the confirmed collection date, placement location, and time. Tell Pro Waste about heavy items or mobility/access needs before the appointment; do not attempt an unsafe lift.
